TikTok launches AI avatars

TikTok has announced the introduction of generative AI avatars featuring creators and stock actors for branded content and ads on its platform.

The move, “Custom Avatars” has been launched to represent creator or brand spokesperson, with users being able to scale their likeness to create multilingual avatars, enhancing their global reach and brand collaborations, the social media giant revealed.

Meanwhile, brands can also create avatars with their spokesperson or partnered creators to localise their global campaigns.

TikTok also announced the launch of “Stock Avatars”, a selection of pre-built avatars made by licensed actors from a range of backgrounds, languages and nationalities for commercial use.

Additionally, the company is also launching an “AI Dubbing” tool to help creators and brands extend the reach of their adverts and branded content.

This tool allows users to translate their content into 10 languages, including English, Japanese, Korean and Spanish, with the tool automatically detecting, transcribing and translating the language in a video.

These new features will be part of “TikTok Symphony,” the company’s generative AI-powered ad solutions suite launched in May. The suite includes tools for scriptwriting, video production, and asset enhancement for marketers.

TikTok Head of Creative Product, Andy Yang said: ” At TikTok, we aim to empower creators and propel their creativity to a global audience with the power of generative AI.

“Symphony Digital Avatars unlock a new avenue for creators to scale their opportunities with brands globally. We aim to fuel the creator economy by investing in creative solutions that spark joy, imagination and action.”
