Dating app Tinder is expanding its reach, introducing a social feature that enables friends to make plans with each other and schedule events with up to three other users.
Tinder Social is a new platform within the app that enables users to plan their nights out. The feature has been tested in Australia, where the firm found that people were looking for an app to aid in short term social planning.
The feature focuses on real-time planning, enabling friends to share messages and find groups who are heading to similar areas, with groups expiring at noon the next day in order to emphasise the short term scope of the platform.
“Tinder has always been about getting you out of the house to meet someone new,” said a Tinder spokesperson in a blog post announcing the feature. “But sometimes you want more than a party of two. Often your best nights are when youre hanging with friends, someone makes an unexpected connection with someone in another crew, and your two crews have an amazing time together.
“Thats why were launching Tinder Social, a new platform that helps you plan your night out. Its all about going out with friends and making new ones. Its that simple.”
The feature is being made in the US and selected other countries, and must be unlocked by users in order to access it. Once unlocked, users will be able to view friends who have done the same, issue invites and send messages.
