Tosh Embeds Mobile Broadband

TanlaToshiba says it will included embedded mobile broadband on all its b2b notebook computers going forward. At an event in Zurich to launch the Tecra R10, Portege R600, Portege A600 and Portege M750 PCs, said the conditions were now right for mobile broadband.
With over 100 HSPA networks in EMEA, the infrastructure is there, said Alain Kergoat, Toshiba Head of Strategy & Business development, EMEA. “The technology is also there, with access speeds similar to fixed-line broadband access. In addition, there are over 100 laptops with embedded mobile broadband and the tariffs are now at a level where they are appealing to people.
Kergoat described USB dongles as an interim solution, noting that they can be lost or mislaid, and are a drain on battery life. “The best solution is to put it inside,” he said. Kergoat also said that Toshiba  would look to include “any good wireless” technology in its notebook computers.
