Total Immersion has released its D’FusiAugmented Reality (AR) software platform, developed to facilitate AR technologies for smartphones and other mobile devices, in particular the iPhone OS and Android. The new product builds on the group’s D’Fusion Mobile patented Marker Less Tracking technology, adding the capability to support new AR user interfaces, such as motion detection, and deliver what Total Immersion describes as “virtually identical functionality to those available on desktop PCs, while accessing such smartphone-specific capabilities as accelerometer and compass”.
“The user has always been at the heart of the AR experience,” says Bruno Uzzan, CEO and co-founder, Total Immersion. “Now, we’ve made it easier for people to interact with AR applications in a more natural fashion – and that makes AR even more engaging. D’Fusion 3.0 is the most comprehensive collection of AR technologies to date, whether on mobile devices or on PCs, from marketing to games to fashion to education, and beyond.”
To celebrate the launch, Total Immersion will showcase D’Fusion 3.0 at a day-long AR Immersion 2010 presentation, to be hosted at the group’s Los Angeles-based R&D Lab on 9 November.
