South Korea’s most popular OTT messaging service KaKaoTalk is integrating US productivity firm Evernote into its app in a partnership that should help both companies boost their audiences in lesser known markets.
With 90m registered users, and a presence on 95 per cent of smartphones in its home nation, KaKaoTalk is likely to want to use the relationship to expand its audience in the US, which currently stands at 4m.
Evernote, which has 50m users worldwide, will boost its presence in the APAC region, currently 15m people, with the integration across KaKaoTalks free iOS, Android and Windows Phone apps. KaKaoTalk has 15m users in Japan, but is overshadowed by Line, which reached the 150m users mark this week.
