Project Zebra, a UK-based geo-social app development company, has created a social networking app to accompany the DVD release of Paramount Home Entertainment movie Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
The game, called TF3 Battle Zone, adds another layer of interaction to existing social networks by leveraging the Foursquare API, says the company. Users choose between the goodies or baddies (Autobots or Decepticons) of the Transformers world, and defend their city by claiming and defending real-world territory every time they check into a location on Foursquare.
The apps, which are available for iOS, Android, as well as HTML5 mobile web and Facebook apps, link up to the official Transformers Facebook page, where the score will be kept.
“Having launched the TF3 Battle Zone on all platforms, Project Zebra believes that applications and games become more compelling the more intelligently they combine a number of core aspects,” says Josh Edwards, communications manager at Project Zebra. “These include location-based activity, social interaction, competition and integration of real-world experience. As is evident in TF3 Battle Zone, Project Zebra aims to be at the forefront of the mobile gaming industry.”
