Travellers Look to Mobile for Last Minute Bookings, says Expedia

Nearly 70 per cent of consumers booking rooms through Expedias mobile site and app want to travel within the next 24 hours – with Friday and Saturday unsurprisingly proving the most popular days to book.
The survey of 2,000 US adults, conducted by Harris Interactive, found that most rooms booked via mobile are within a 10-mile radius of the customers current location, and nine of the top 10 destinations for US mobile travellers were within the country.
In conjunction with the survey results and to better serve this growing audience, Expedia has also introduced Mobile Exclusive deals to its app, which will offer 10-30 per cent off desktop rates.
“Mobile devices have continued to become an essential part of travel, whether travelling for business or leisure,” said Joe Megibow, Expedia vice president and general manager. “Expedia is making sure that no matter where you are, you can find the right deal for you.”
