If you take Retail out of the equation, there is one sector that has arguably taken to mobile with more enthusiasm than any other – the Travel & Tourism Industry. From hotels to airlines to railways, buses and even the iconic London taxi, the Travel business is using mobile in all sorts of useful and interesting ways, from tickets and boarding passes, to confirmation messages, alerts and mCommerce sites.
In last year’s Effective Mobile Marketing Awards, the Travel & Tourism category saw two entries from opposite ends of the spectrum slugging it out for the honours. Crafted Media took home a Highly Commended certificate for its app for Colchester Zoo, a regular family attraction that turned to mobile to enhance the visiting experience for its customers.
But the award went to TripAdvisor for the TripAdvisor app, which helps tourists to find places to eat and things to do, wherever in the world they happen to find themselves. Given the amount of activity in the Travel sector, we are expecting another strong set of entries this year.
To enter this category, or indeed any other, head over to the Awards website for details, download the Entry Form, and get it back to us before 5pm UK time on Friday 17 August. And remember, its completely free to enter, and you can submit as many campaigns as you think are worthy of recognition. The Awards Ceremony takes place in London on 29 November.
And if you missed our Awards webinar last week, you can catch a recording of it here. It’s very short, only around 10 minutes, just a quick run through of the entry criteria and key dates.
