Trutap recently announced that it is partnering with leading content providers to deliver daily news and entertainment to its user base. The company says it aims to set the standard for mobile social networks. TruTap currently has 250,000 users around the world.
Trutap is targeted at mid-to-high-range mobile phones that make up 85% of the market. It has a high penetration in countries such as India and Indonesia, where the iPhone and Blackberry are still considered luxury handsets. The new version will be rolled out to over 450 mobile phones by the end of 2008 and many more early in 2009.
The new version of Trutap raises the bar for mobile social networking, says Trutap CEO, Doug Richard. We're giving users real-time updates from their friends, wherever they are, and we're doing it in an application that's fast and visually stunning. We're aiming to provide our users with one of the best user experiences on a mobile social network and for many of our users who can't afford fancy phones, this new version gives them everything they need.
