Thomson has launched the MyThomson iOS app, a one stop shop for holidaymakers who are off on a trip this summer.
The app includes flight information like check-in times and luggage allowances, maps to the airport, destination guides, weather updates and social sharing fuctions. TUI Travel, which owns Thompson along with 240 other brands across Europe, says this will be a blueprint to be rolled out for the rest of its portfolio.
The company said Android is on the way.
Athough digital is a key channel for the company, some of Thomsons 700 high street shops are also being revamped as part of TUIs commitment to using technology to attract customers in-store.
The shops will, amongst other things, have free wi-fi for customers, a giant video wall and interactive maps and tables to help tourists research. Free coffee will also be on offer. Its first next generation shop will go live in the summer – with the location yet to be confirmed. A further 10 will be reimagined by Christmas. The emphasis will be on service in a modern environment.
