Twitter co-founder Biz Stone has revealed that he will be returning to the company in a full-time capacity – six years after he left the microblogging site to co-found online publishing platform Medium and search engine company Jelly.
At this time, it is unknown what role Stone will fill upon his big return but he says he will not be replacing anyone at the company, instead filling a “Biz shaped hole”.
Stone’s Jelly company was acquired by Pinterest earlier this year in a deal that, Stone says, didn’t require him to work at photo-sharing platform – thus leaving the door open to seek work anywhere he pleased, and that place turned out to be Twitter.
“My top focus will be to guide the company culture, that energy, that feeling,” said Stone in a blog post. “My excitement at the chance to work on Twitter again with Jack [Dorsey], Leslie [Berland] and the entire team around the world is over-the-moon. As I truly believe, and as I’ve written before, the Tweets must flow. Twitter has woven itself into the fabric of our global society. The world needs Twitter, and it’s here to stay. I’m so lucky that I get to step back in and help shape its future.”
