Twitter has signed a host of deals across sports, news and entertainment to offer an array of live streamed content on its platform over the coming months.
The 12 live deals will bring live original programming, games and events, and syndications, as well as ‘always-on’ live streaming to the microblogging site. Live video expected on the site includes weekly regular season games from the WNBA, a 24/7 breaking news network from Bloomberg Media, select concerts and original content from Live Nation, and much more.
“We could not be prouder of the success we have achieved so quickly since launching live streaming premium content. Last quarter, we streamed over 800 hours of live premium content from leading brands across sports, eSports, news, and entertainment,” said Anthony Noto, Twitter COO. “Adding these 12 new live deals tonight is a testament to the success of our only-on-Twitter experience, combining high quality streaming video with our only-on-Twitter conversation.”
In addition to the WNBA, Bloomberg and Live Nation, Twitter has signed deals with MLBAM, Stadium, The Players’ Tribune, PGA Tour, The Verge, BuzzFeed News, Cheddar, IMG Fashion, and Propagate.
