Twitter Launches Offers in the US

Twitter has launched Twitter Offers, a feature enabling advertisers to create in-store deals which can be shared as a promoted tweet.
Users can add the offer directly to their credit or debit card in just a few taps, and redeem them in stores, without requiring a specific coupon to be activated, or any dedicated equipment or software on the merchants side. The savings are then credited to the users card as cashback once the transaction is complete, and the advertiser will be able to directly attribute the redemption to the Twitter campaign.
As well as adding a new ad unit to Twitters growing repertoire, Offers could give users an incentive to store their card details with Twitter – something that could help adoption of the Buy button Twitter which has been testing recently. Group product manager Tarun Jain made this link himself in the blog post announcing the feature:
“Over the past year, we’ve thought a lot about what commerce should look like on Twitter,” said Jain. “A few months ago, we took our first step toward this vision by giving merchants the ability to sell products directly from a tweet.”
Twitter is working with a handful of brands in US to start testing Offers during the holiday season, presumably with an eye towards a wider rollout.
