Twitter has added 12 new countries to its Twitter Ads network, bringing promoted posts to countries including Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Ukraine and Poland.
The expansion brings the number of EMEA markets with Twitter Ads available to 35. Advertising remains a major source of revenue for the company, with $277m (£167m) of its total $312 revenue for Q2 2014 brought in through advertising, 81 per cent of it from mobile advertising.
Twitter has expanded its advertising products across international borders throughout 2014, making geo-targeting tools available in the UK, France and Indonesia, as well as launching self-service ad platforms aimed at small- and medium-sized businesses in Israel, South Africa and Spain.
“Weve heard positive feedback from brands around the world about how our recent product developments have helped accomplish goals like driving engagement or direct-response actions like website traffic, video views, leads and sales,” said Twitter in a statement on the expansion. “Since 2013, there have been significant enhancements top our suite of creative, measurement and targeting tools.”
