Txtlocal Urges Hospitality Businesses To Go Mobile

Businesses in the hospitality sector should capitalise on the opportunities offered by mobile messaging, according to mobile messaging firm,Textlocal. Despite the influx of visitors expected for the Olympic Games and the Diamond Jubilee, 2012 looks to be an even harder year for restaurants – and the answer could be discounts, deals and money-off vouchers delivered via SMS.

Textlocal managing director Darren Daws says: “SMS gives any marketing campaign the power to cost-effectively communicate with your target customer and build on the relationship you have with them. Adding SMS to a campaign allows consumers to text for more information, so the follow-up can become more targeted, location-based and direct – and we have seen this work particularly in the hospitality sector.”

Textlocal provides the example of its campaign with Papa John’s Pizza to show how mobile messaging can be an effective marketing tool. The campaign saw sales increase by 31.7 per cent within three days.

“Any tool which allows a business owner to grow their customer data and intelligence, and then allow you to communicate targeted messages to them directly is powerful,” says Daws, “and it’s right there in your hand – the humble mobile phone.”
