Mobile payments and solution provider txtnation has launched HLR (Home Location Register) network lookup services as part of its solutions portfolio. HLR lookup is a way of checking, in real-time, whether a mobile number is active, and which mobile network it currently belongs to. txtNation says it sees a big future for the service, and is actively promoting it as a unique offering amongst current mobile payment providers and SMS aggregators.
Currently released as an API for developers to connect in-to in order to perform number queries, txtNation sees HLR lookup as a logical extension to its suite of services. HLRb lookup is live and available across the company’s core platform.
“Adding HLR to our portfolio allows existing clients and new clients alike the opportunity to add on this popular service to their current mobile activities, including tagging it on to their Premium or Bulk services, a major advantage to all service providers,” says txtnation director, Michael Whelan. “We are still staying narrow, just adding another layer into the mobile mix.”
txtNation believes the service can help mobile marketers identify and eliminate invalid numbers and help SMS aggregators and resellers optimise their SMS messaging. Using HLR lookup, service providers can avoid the cost and waste involved in sending messages that are undeliverable because the number has been ported, or is no longer in use.
