It looks like another wave of huge technology valuations is on its way.
Taxi booking app firm Uber is in financing talks to raise somewhere around $1bn. While the exact size and value of the funding could change, this would value the company at an estimated $10bn – almost triple the $3.5bn Uber was valued at last August, when it landed $258m from investors including Google Ventures.
This would put Uber in the $10bn club alongside tech firms including Dropbox and Airbnb, which were valued at the same amount in January and March respectively.
In other valuation news, Pinterest has raised a $200m funding round from existing investors SV Angel, Bessemer Venture Partners, Fidelity, Andreessen Horowitz, FirstMark Capital, and Valiant Capital Partners. This funding values the social network firm at $5bn, compared to $3.8bn last October.
