Uber’s board of directors has voted in favour of all recommendations offered by a report that comes following allegations of sexual harassment and discrimination within the company. The report is set to lead to more high-ranking Uber staff heading for the exit door in what is now becoming somewhat of an exodus.
The recommendations presented by former US Attorney General Eric Holder and his law firm are reported to force greater controls on spending, human resources and other areas where executives have had a lot of freedom – according to Reuters.
The outcome of the board meeting, where the recommendations were accepted, is set to see Uber’s CBO – and close friend of CEO Travis Kalanick – Emil Michael on his way out. Michael, himself, has been involved in a string of controversies. In addition, the board is said to be weighing up a six-month leave of absence for Kalanick for his part in the Uber’s long, and ever-growing, list of controversies, scandals and financial losses.
The conclusion of the latest investigation follows the ride-hailing company firing 20 people for their part in alleged discrimination, harassment and bullying.
