Uber Update Pushes Food Delivery to the Front

Uber EatsUber has updated its app to push its food delivery service Uber Eats to the fore.

In an update rolling out to cities where the delivery service is available, users can switch between Rides – the taxi booking service with which Uber is synonymous – and Eats using a single button at the top of the screen. This indicates that the company doesnt want users to think of Eats as one small part of its taxi business, but as an independent service thats on equal footing to Rides.

The update comes as Uber Eats rolls out to San Francisco, its sixth market and one of the most competitive it has entered thus far. Vitally, though, its also home turf for Uber and most other US tech firms.

Eats launched in Barcelona this February, and is now available in New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Austin and Chicago.
