Mobile app development agency Ubinow is celebrating its first six months in business with number one apps in both the UK and Greece.
In the UK, the company's app for the Sonisphere Festival got to the 'top grossing' slot in the Apple App Store. The Sonisphere Festival app is a companion app for the music festival which took place last weekend at Knebworth. The app offered an interactive guide to the event, including maps, line-up information, a personalised itinerary, photo streams and news.
In Greece, Ubinow has launched the 118 app, which received over 14,000 downloads in its first four days of availability. The application allows users to locate nearby services using GPS. It also includes targeted advertising, and dynamically creates recommendations based on location and personal preferences. It is an iOS app, but is coming to Android soon, according to the company.
Ubinow Managing director Stefan Bardega says: "We have had an incredible first six months fully operational, culiminating in this simultaneous success in UK and Greece. Alongside our client work, we also set up Mobile Creatives, a monthly industry forum designed to drive creativity in mobile. There was nobody driving this in the industry so we have taken the lead and it's proving very popular. At our first event we had a TEDGlobal speaker (Carlos Ulloa) and our next event will have the mobile director from the BBCWorldwide. We already have over 100 members despite, only being up and running for three weeks."
