The UK government has delved into its portion European Regional Development Fund to provide AI and machine learning startups with access to the computing power and expertise they require to build their solutions.
The Machine Intelligence Garage has been setup by Digital Catapult – which works with the government’s Innovate UK and aims to help drive the UK economy through the application of digital innovation.
The programme will host workshops and experimentation days to help startups, with a ‘well-defined business idea, to gain an understanding of machine intelligence systems. The computing power provided will be of levels these startups would not normally have access to, and the lack of which has been a barrier to growth.
Partners and collaborators on the programme include Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Graphcore, EPCC, Hartree Centre, and Nvidia.
Open calls for the programme go live every six weeks from this month, with the first group starting on 23 January 2018.
