Update Takes Google Now to the Cinema

Google has updated its Android search app, with a particular focus on the Google Now voice assistant functionality.

The update brings support for cinema ticket seller Fandango, enabling users to purchase tickets, which will be presented on-screen as a QR code at the relevant time – and Google Now will also remind the user when its time to leave for the film. This cinema focus extends to the addition of film ratings from Rotten Tomatoes.

The app will also provide houses for buying and rental in the locale, courtesy of US online estate agent Zillow.

Finally, the update brings a Google Now widget which can be affixed to the devices home- or lock-screen, so that voice searches can be done without having to open an app.
