US Mobile Ad Spend Will Hit $8.5bn in 2013

Mobile spending will hit $8.5bn (£5.4bn) this year, according to forecasts from eMarketer, a year-on-year increase of 95 per cent.
Mobile will make up 22.1 per cent of all digital search ad dollars spent this year – a figure that will rise to 59.6 per cent by 2017.
The total digital ad spend is estimated at $42.3bn in 2013. This represents a slight upward revision from the June forecast, driven by a $0.86bn boost on eMarketers previous mobile estimates.
Of all mobile spend this year, 51.5 per cent will go to search, compared to 44.8 per cent on display advertising.
