US Mobile Advertising to Become a $2bn Industry in 2012

Total mobile advertising spend in the US will jump from $1.34bn to $2.01bn in 2012, according to a new whitepaper produced by mobile ad network adsmobi in association with research company mobileSQUARED. This growth will be driven by smartphone adoption, with a total of 155.6m sold next year. 

In 2011, the US mobile internet penetration reached 41 per cent and will hit 48 per cent – 158.9 million users – next year. Android has become the dominant smartphone platform this year and, according to the report, will consolidate that position in 2012, with a 25% market share in the US.
