US Mobile Users are Gaming Mad

Time spent gaming tops all other activities done on smartphones in the US, according to users surveyed in Arbitrons smartphone panel.

78.8 per cent said they play games, fewer than those who use social networks, messaging, calls or the mobile internet, but average time spent exceeds 9 hours every month, while social networking, which comes in second, consumes fewer than 7 hours.

iOS users spend 34 per cent more time playing games than Android and have 60 per cent more sessions every month. While Android users play for 8 hours and 4 minutes on average every month, iPhone users spend 12 hours and 23 playing mobile games. iOS users have 151.5 sessions. Android users 94.6.

Words with Friends was the most popular game across both platforms in December.
