US Tops Barcode-scanning Rankings

3GVision has released its latest report on mobile barcode usage. The report shows an increase of 52 per cent in the number of barcodes scanned in Q2, 2011, over Q1, with daily scans coming from 136 different countries around the world.

Barcode usage in the US increased by 82 per cent, quarter on quarter.  The top 10 users in Q2 were:

  1. US
  2. Germany
  3. UK
  4. Italy
  5. Canada
  6. The Netherlands
  7. France
  8. Hong Kong
  9. Spain
  10. Australia

The fastest growing countries were

  1. Australia – up 114 per cent quarter-on-quarter)
  2. Germany – up 89 per cent
  3. US – up 80 per cent
  4. Canada – up 69m per cent
  5. Spain – up 68 per cent

One note of caution. The figures are based on the total number of QRcode, Datamatrix and UPC/EAN scans recorded by the i?nigma system during the relevant periods. 3G Vision declares, however, that the figures do not include activity in Japan, which it concedes to be well ahead in popularity and usage of mobile barcodes.
