UTuneMe has launched its geo-targeted mobile ad platform, which brings together broadcasters, including online radio stations and podcast content, with advertisers who want to reach local audiences, and mobile radio users.
Through the UTuneMe app, which will be available on Android in December, advertisers can target audio ad content based on the user’s location or demographic. The company said an iOS app will follow next year.
With someone listening to a London-based station in Dubai, for example, this platform gives advertisers an opportunity to create ads more relevant to the users location and for broadcasters to better monetise inventory with location-based ad spots.
The platform can be used to create, upload and launch campaigns, with the ability to use analytics, tracking and optimisation.
“For too long, audio has been stuck in the past, while the smartphone revolution has happened around it. UTuneMe helps broadcasters make sense of this information to provide better and more relevant content,” said Shankar Meembat, founder and CEO.
The company says that mentioning location in an ad or search result increases click-through rates by 200 per cent.
