Verizon Media, the digital content arm of telecoms giant Verizon, has released an SDK that brings together its AOL and Yahoo monetisation assets into one place. The Verizon Ads SDK, which has been integrated with the IAB Tech Lab Open Measurement SDK, replaces the company’s Flurry Monetization and One Mobile SDKs.
Through the Verizon Ads SDK’s integration with the Open Measurement SDK, publishers only need to integrate a single SDK, while advertisers are able to access and measure mobile app inventory with the third-party viewability measurement firm of their choice.
The SDK features a pluggable architecture providing app developers with the option to extend functionality and introduce further ad placements without needing a new SDK. Furthermore, the publisher can customise the SDK to suit their own monetisation efforts.
“Mobile publishing and technology has evolved significantly over the past decade, yet ad SDKs – a critical component of mobile monetisation – have largely remained the same,” said Verizon Media in press release. “App developers are forced to make trade-offs between revenue and user experience due to SDK size, integration cost, and ad format support, among other factors. With the release of the Verizon Ads SDK, app developers and publishers will now have the modern tools they need to say ‘yes’ to both revenue and user experience, instead of having to choose between them.”
