Vimily Launches DIY Video Platform

Australian startup Vimily has announced its global launch with an iOS app and platform that will allow companies to create shareable online video content for competitions, consumer or business events and market research. Videos of up to three minutes in length can be branded with the company’s logo and linked to any website.

Vimily enables users to create, manage and “socialize” video content. Interview questions are pre-defined and displayed in the app to prompt users on the subject matter. The video is recorded and the interviewee’s demographic information is gathered on the app and uploaded to Vimily’s platform, which is hosted on Amazon Web Services. Once a video has been approved for publication, the company can repost videos on its own social platforms and websites. Vimily also sends a link of the video to an interviewee so they can share it across social media sites.

A call to action can be embedded on each video, where users can be prompted to make a donation, enter their personal details for a video competition or click to visit a website for further information. Vimily plans to add the ability to include a video advertisement at the end of a video.

“Brands are increasingly looking for opportunities to create more meaningful conversations with large audiences in more unique ways,” said Matt Barnett, Vimily’s CEO and co-founder. “Vimily has designed an app and platform to create personally relevant content in a cost-effective manner that can be shared easily with the masses.”

Vimily says it expects to launch an Android version of the app later this year, and that it will open its API to support customised app developments using its technology.
