Vodafone has unveiled the four finalists of the Vodafone Mobile Clicks 2010 competition to identify and develop the best, most innovative mobile internet start-ups. The four finalists are Akvo Phone (Netherlands); Cardmobili, (Portugal); MALCOM, (Spain) and Roulette Cricket (UK).
Akvo Phone is a mobile app that enables live field-reporting for development aid project workers. The app allows reports, including photos, text, phone identity, geographic location GPS information and time stamp to be remotely submitted, freeing up time for field workers to get on with their jobs.
Cardmobili gathers membership and loyalty cards through crowd-sourcing and loyalty programme searches, then sends them to the customer’s mobile phone, giving consumers access to offers they might not have known about otherwise.
MALCOM is a mobile app lifecycle management system. The service, accessed through a simple web interface, takes the complexity, time and cost out of managing, updating and rolling out mobile apps.
Roulette Cricket is designed to be played whilst watching cricket, either live or on TV. It takes data from love cricket matches and enables users to bet on where the next boundary will be.
The four finalists will now be invited to represent their country in a live final at the PICNIC Festival in Holland on 24 September, where the overall winners of the €150,000 (£126,000) total prize fund will be chosen by a panel of mobile industry experts.
Ahead of the PICNIC presentations, members of the public are invited to cast their vote for the winner of Mobile Clicks 2010. At the live final, the overall result of the public vote will be counted alongside the votes of panel members to decide the winners. You can cast your vote here.
