Vodafone launches 5G roaming across Europe in time for the summer holidays

Man airport mobile Vodafone 5GVodafone has rolled out 5G roaming in 55 towns and cities across Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK, enabling customers to use their 5G handsets across the countries without paying extra on their pay monthly plans.

The network has been active in some of the most popular tourist and business locations in places such as Madrid, Munich, Rome, and London. This is in addition to already having 4G roaming available in 156 destinations.

“We have accelerated the availability of 5G roaming just as schools break up for the summer holiday,” said Nick Jeffrey, Vodafone UK CEO. “With 5G in more places than with any other network, our customers can keep in touch with loved ones at home, colleagues in the office or with their business customers while they’re travelling abroad.”

Vodafone switched on its 5G network in Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow, Manchester, Liverpool, and London at the beginning of July, before introducing it in Birkenhead, Bolton, Gatwick, Lancaster, Newbury, Plymouth, Stoke-on-Trent, and Wolverhampton. It currently offers two 5G smartphones – the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G and the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3.

The company recently entered into an agreement with O2 to share 5G active equipment in the UK, with the aim of delivering the technology to more people sooner.
