Vodafone teams up with Hatch to bring 5G cloud gaming to UK customers

Vodafone is linking up with game streaming platform Hatch to bring cloud-based mobile gaming to its 5G service, once it goes live on 3 July.
From 3 July, all Vodafone pay monthly customers in the UK will gain complimentary access to Hatch Premium for three months. Following that three-month period, customers can continue accessing the cloud-based mobile gaming platform for £6.99 a month.
“We’re excited to be teaming up with the world’s first cloud-based mobile gaming platform and give our customers an extra experience over 5G for no extra cost,” said Max Taylor commercial director at Vodafone UK. “Playing games on the go from the cloud is a great example of how 5G can transform an everyday activity and this exclusive new partnership is excellent news for our customers – now they can stream over 100 games from the cloud with instant reaction times and no lag or drop outs.”
Hatch, a subsidiary of Angry Birds creator Rovio, offers users access to over 100 premium mobile games from more than 100 developers and publishers without the need to download each game, update them, experience ads, or make in-app purchases.
Games available on the platform include the aforementioned Angry Birds, Monument Valley, Crashlands, the exclusive Hatch Original Arkanoid Rising, and many more. Premium subscribers can connect with friends, follow live leaderboards, and join live tournaments. A subscription also unlocks Hatch Kids, a dedicated safe space for children to enjoy the app.

Earlier this year, Hatch expanded its service into Japan on the back of a minority investment from Japanese mobile operator NTT Docomo. The deal also included a look at working together on promotion eSports opportunities.
