Voddler Comes to Windows Phone

Voddler has launched a video-on-demand (VOD) app for Nokia Lumia smartphones, following a deal which made Voddler the manufacturers exclusive entertainment partner in Europe.

As well enabling users to watch videos on their mobile, the Windows Phone app brings exclusive social integration in its Movie Night feature, which allows friends to synchronise their online viewing, and discuss the film as it plays.

“Watching movies just got social again,” says Marcus Bäcklund, CEO of Voddler. “Our app combines the inherent communication strength of a mobile device with online video’s flexibility to let you and your friends decide when and where to watch.”

The app joins Voddler’s native apps for iOS, Android, Symbian and Meego, but it the Stockholm-based companys first app for Windows Phone – and, interestingly, is limited to one handset.

The app is initially launching in Voddler’s current markets – Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Spain – with more releases in more European markets planned for 2012.
