Voddler Hits 1m User Mark

Video-on-demand service Voddler, which serves the Scandinavian region, has clocked up 1m users. The service is available on the desktop and can also stream to the iPhone via an app. The app was downloaded 150,000 times in its first week, and the company says it is now developing Android and Symbian versions.

“Being available on multiple platforms is a cornerstone in our strategy,” says Anders Sjöman, Voddlers CP of communications. “Film lovers should always be close to the movies they want to see. No matter where they are, Voddlers film cloud should always be near.”

Voddlers millionth user was 13-year-old Norwegian Filip. The youngster was awarded a years free subscription to celebrate the landmark.

The service offers over 4,000 titles from film studios around the world, and is available in Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark. The service launched across the region in June 2010, having previously been available as a beta in Sweden only.

“Its encouraging to know that Facebook also reached one million users during their first full year of operations,” says Sjöman. “As we now look ahead, growth for us continues to mean close collaboration with movie studios, advertisers and above all our customers. Together we will make sure more movies reach more viewers to the financial benefit of more filmmakers.”

The company is set to launch its service in Spain in the next few weeks.
