Volantis Unveils Ubik.com

Volantis, which supplies Intelligent Content Adaptation solutions for the mobile Internet, has  announced the open beta launch of Ubik.com, a web tool that enables consumers and small businesses to build mobile websites without any technical knowledge or training. The service is available immediately, for free use, from the Ubik.com website.
Volantis now provides two free solutions that address the challenges posed by the complexity of the non-PC device world. For large enterprises, Volantis offers its freely downloadable Mobility Server, while Ubik.com now provides a service for small businesses and consumers.
With a simple, step-by-step approach, Ubik.com leads even the novice through the process necessary to build a mobile-optimized site. Users can access dozens of templates developed by the Volantis design team to get their own mobile website up and running quickly. Employing the Volantis Framework and device library of more than 5,100 different mobile devices, Ubik.com mobile-optimized sites provide the best user experience on any mobile device available today, the company says.
The Ubik.com service enables end users and small businesses to quickly and easily join the mobile community, allowing them to rapidly publish content and be sure that it will look good on every device out there today, says Volantis Co-founder and Chief Executive, Mark Watson. With the proliferation of Smartphones, more people are turning to their mobile devices for convenient web access. Volantis technology has empowered leading companies to properly present their brands on mobile devices, but until now small companies and end users were left behind. Now, Ubik.com provides a solution for everyone.
Ubiks templates provide complete and pre-built sites for a wide variety of needs and use case scenarios from personal to small business sites. Users can complete personal details and hit publish. Others can be more creative, using the templates as a starting point and adding colour, photos and design elements etc to create more complex mobile sites. There are numerous templates in many categories including taxi service, restaurant, cleaner, car dealer, travel agency and more.
The Editor makes it easy to manage a site. Users can see a list of all pages, add, amend or remove them, and adjust content or images; allowing each page to be fully customized. The Preview pane shows changes in real-time, enabling rapid editing and giving users the ability to see the whole emulated site prior to publishing.
The Dashboard is used to manage mobile sites that the user has created. Users can view ratings from other users, go to the Site Profile to review comments, add more details or take the site to the Editor for further development or updates.
A Remote Upload feature enables users to send images to the site from anywhere via email or MMS and access them in the Gallery instantly. Each Gallery section has a unique address code, so users can send images directly to specific pages on their site.
Sites created using the Ubik.com service are hosted and published for free at sitemap.ubik.net. Users can notify their friends and family about the new site or site update via email.
To support Ubik.com users, Volantis has launched a community forum to provide information, facilitate communication and help new users get started.
