Volvo Teams up with Indian IT Giant to Create Apps

Volvo has signed a wide-ranging outsourcing deal with Tech Mahindra, the Indian IT giant, as the Swedish car giant looks to develop applications to increase efficiency and reduce costs

Tech Mahindra, which employs around 80,000 people globally, has been appointed as Strategic Partner for Application Maintenance and Development by Volvo.

The deals kicks off immediately and will see Tech Mahindra  focus on developing apps across key parts of the Volvo business including manufacturing, product development, marketing and sales.

The deal is thought to be worth $40m over three years.Vikram Nair Europe head, Tech Mahindra, said: “We see this contract as an opportunity to increase our contribution to Volvo cars and further develop our business in the region. Our plans include proactive investment and recruitment from both local universities and the local business domain pool.”
