Eight months on from the launch of its iPhone app in February, and almost 1m downloads later, mobile discounts app Vouchercloud has broadened its reach with an SMS version of its offers.

Anyone with a phone with a web browser can go to www.vouchercloud.com and choose the discount they want to receive via SMS. The vouchercloud system will send them an SMS ‘stub’ containing all the information required to redeem the offer. When the user wants to use the discount they simply reply to the ‘stub’ message to receive their voucher via SMS which they then show to a member of staff who will make the necessary reduction. (You do need a Voucherlcoud account for this to work, so you might want to register on your PC before you use the service for the first time.)

“We’ve had phenomenal feedback since our iPhone app launch in February, says Vouchercloud director, Greg Le Tocq. “Users without iPhones have been asking us to come up with a solution so they too can benefit from the savings Vouchercloud delivers. This version of the app means everyone with a mobile phone is able to receive some of the best offers around – especially exciting for those tied in to a mobile phone contract and not able to upgrade to a Smartphone yet.”

Vouchercloud delivers savings across many popular activities, including dining, drinking, shopping, days out and visiting the cinema. To date, Vouchercloud says its iPhone app has saved its users over £5m on everything from coffee and sandwiches to hotel stays and driving lessons.
