Walmart turns to Digimarc to make its printed toy catalogue shoppable

Walmart has activated its seasonal toy catalogue with Digimarc’s Scan & Shop technology, enabling customers to scan and shop hundreds of toys via the Walmart app. The tech features in 35m catalogues that are being distributed in Walmart's US stores, and mailed direct to shoppers.

Walmart activated the seasonal toy catalogue by enhancing pages with the Digimarc Barcode, and integrating the Digimarc Mobile software development kit (SDK) into its app for iOS and Android.

"Creating convenience for Walmart's customers was a key priority for this year's Toy Catalog,” said Alvis Washington, Walmart’s VP, Marketing. “Through our partnership with Digimarc, we were able to enhance our catalog with a Scan & Shop option for our customers. This is an exciting new feature that I know will resonate with our customers,"

Digimarc specialises in the automatic identification of everyday objects such as product packaging and virtually any media, including print, images and audio. The company has a global patent portfolio of over 1,100 granted and pending patents.
