Its not often a whole new OS launches, but in the last week Microsoft has released two – Windows 8, which will run on its Surface tablets, and Windows Phone 8. Long term, they have the potential to shake up the mobile ecosystem, but right now there are some smaller, more practical adjustments to be made.
A whole range of mobile platforms are widening their reach to support the OSs, and weve gathered some of the early movers below.
Flurry
Flurry has added Windows 8 and WP8 support to its Flurry Analytics app measurement platform, and has promised a beta release of its SDK for the platforms over the next few weeks, with general availability to follow in Q4.
Marmalade
Crossplatform app development tool Marmalade will be incorporating WP8 support into version 6.2, which will be released later this year. Support for Windows 8 is promised to follow in 2013. This means any apps already built using Marmalade will be able to be released on WP8 without any further coding.
Bsquare
Bsquare has launched a porting service for Android, iOS and legacy Windows apps, which enables developers to upload the code for their app on Bsquares website, and then receive a Windows 8 or Windows 8 version of the code to submit for certification.
Smaato
In-app advertising platform Smaato has released a WP8 advertising SDK, which enables developers to monetise WP8 apps with advertising in over 200 countries, through more than 90 ad networks.
