Wapple Secures Funds, Appoints New CEO

Mobile web technology provider Wapple has closed a “significant” funding round and engaged Simon Lavers as its new CEO. The company says the money, raised from new and existing shareholders, will be used to accelerate its business in the US, and support growth of its existing EMEA business.

Lavers is an experienced director of SME businesses in the UK and overseas. He started his career with IDG and went on to co-found digital services company Activ Australia in 1997 which he subsequently sold before returning to the UK.

“Wapple has an exceptional technology that delivers results far in advance of other mobile web solutions,” says Lavers. “This technical edge, combined with clients that include some of the biggest global brands and best recognised blue chip enterprises, puts Wapple in a near unique position to become the standard mobile web platform.”

With more than 25,000 global licensed users of its software products, Canvas, Architect and Exhibit, Wapple enables brands to deliver optimised mobile web content. The company also offers professional services.
