Wattpad Launches Ebook Anywhere

ebook community Wattpad has launched its Ebook Anywhere initiative, which gives mobile operators, handset manufacturers and value-added service providers the ability to leverage Wattpads ebook reading technology and content, which will be made available freely under Creative Commons, Attribution No Derivatives licence.
The commerce-friendly, open licence gives mobile companies a turnkey solution to instantly create their own ebook storefront with all the key components in place, including Wattpads ebook reading software, which supports over 1000 devices; payment system; and a selection of over 30,000 books from Wattpads ebook library. Wattpad says that mobile companies can now fully capitalize on the fast growing ebook market with this ebook-in-a-box package. Under the terms of the licence, participating companies keep all of the generated revenue and do not have to share it with Wattpad.Additionally, says Wattpad, as the mobile phone is the most ubiquitous electronic device in developing and developed countries, the openness of the Ebook Anywhere initiative will further benefit elearning initiatives by many governments, educators and non-profit organizations around the world.
Wattpad is a top 3 ebook application in the iPhone App Store, just behind Amazons Stanza and Kindle, and ahead of Barnes and Nobless eReader. It is also one of the top ebook applications in the BlackBerry App World. Additionally, Wattpad notes that it is the only ebook application that supports all variants of Java ME, which ensures that Wattpad runs on virtually all phone models in the market.
Wattpad says it expects the first Ebook Anywhere deployment within the next 90 days.
