Wayfinder To Go

Satnav company Wayfinder has released Navigator 7, the latest version of the award-winning Wayfinder software first launched in 2003. The software provides mobile phone users with voice, graphical and map turn-by-turn directions from A to B.
Map data is streamed from a central server, giving users access to the latest, most up-to-date information. In addition, Wayfinder Navigator 7 adds a number of new features to the Navigator series, including 3D maps, a new night mode to adapt the colour and brightness of the screen, an increased selection of POIs (Points of Interest) – now 20 million across North America and Europe, additional content from Info America and a new Power Search facility. This requires the user to enter just two fields, such as name and city, to perform an intelligent search.
Searches are dynamic and intelligent, taking account of the users current location, desired country, user profile capabilities, user profile preferences and all databases available to the user both local and remote. Results are then presented in categories so that the user can easily identify where they originate from.
New locations and information can also be sent to colleagues or friends by SMS, MMS or email and information such as phone numbers and web links can be saved in a Favourites menu.
Consumers spent 4.7 billion (3.2 billion) on mobile navigation hardware and software solutions  in EMEA in 2006, and the analyst Canalys estimates that this will rise to 6.4 billion in 2007.
Wayfinder Navigator 7 is supported in 17 languages and will be available from mid April 2007. A lifetimes subscription to the UK and Ireland database costs 99.
