Wayra Opens Call for Entries from Startups in Eight Countries

Wayra London TelefonicaWayra, the startup accelerator set up by Telefónica, has opened a new global call for projects in eight of its academies, four in Europe (Madrid, Barcelona, Dublin and Munich) and four in Latin America (Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Lima and Santiago de Chile).

For this call, Wayra is particularly looking for projects and solutions related to retail (to improve the shopping experience, facilitate interaction at points of sale and monetise the buying process); productivity (to improve processes and team communication within businesses); and communication (to improve the experience of communication between people and enrich their digital environment integrating their devices).

Telefónica has pledged over €13.5m (£8m) for startups which go through the Wayra accelerator process while third parties, including angel investors and public and private funds, have allocated more than €36m.

Entrepreneurs and startups have until 8 June to apply on Wayras site.
