Weather Channel Goes Social with My Friends Weather

The Weather Channel has launched My Friends Weather, a social media integration feature for its desktop and mobile site.
Users can log in using their Facebook account to see an interactive map which highlights the location of any friends who may be affected by adverse weather conditions. It also provides a content-driven feed including weather news around local and international events. 
“The UK does not experience as high a volume of severe weather as some other countries, but throughout the year it does feel the impact of a wide range of extreme weather,” said Leon Brown, chief meteorologist at The Weather Company International. “Local weather in the UK is often difficult to forecast precisely in advance, and the My Friends’ Weather service allows users to remain aware of the severe weather their friends are experiencing locally, in real time.”
