WeFi, the creator of the first open, community-based global wi-fi network, has launched a one-touch-Internet feature for Windows Mobile devices, providing users with seamless access to the best wi-fi connection relative to their location with a click of the touch-screen, rather than having to manually search for wi-fi access points, open a web browser and then click on the requested application.
The feature gives the Windows Mobile user a convenient interface to launch any application or webpage from the Today screen, automatically finding the best wi-fi connection available when the application is launched. In addition, each application can be configured in advance to use only wi-fi, or to revert to a 3G or 2.5G data connection if no wi-fi access point is available.
WeFi always seeks to connect the user to wi-fi access points which have been automatically community-verified by other WeFi-enabled user devices, in a growing network of over 1.5 million access points. Windows Mobile users can also register the WeFi software on their PCs in order to benefit from easy access to WeFis social networking tools, including a map of wi-fi access points on which they can pinpoint their friends in real-time, send messages and share photos and other information.
WeFi understands that when on the move, people are looking for a service that is fast and easy, says WFi CEO, Zur Feldman. Although most cellular phones today incorporate capabilities to enable Internet connectivity, people seldom enjoy these features because they are so hard to access on their device. Our groundbreaking feature for Windows Mobile not only eliminates the current long, cumbersome manual search process, but also allows users to find a reliable wi-fi connection that is free and open, wherever they are.
