What Car? Goes Mobile

What Car? has launched a mobile version of its website. Around 50,000 users a month already access the main What Car? website via their mobile device, and What Car? Publisher Haymerket Consumer Media says it expects this number to increase quickly with the introduction of m.whatcar.com.

“What Car? mobile provides an important route for car buyers to reach our content, and the response from our advertisers has been spectacularly positive” says What Car? Publishing Director, Andrew Golby. “The rapid emergence of Smartphones and the improved web browsing capabilities of all mobile phones means this will be an important platform for us.

The mobile site incorporates the key features of the main What Car? website, including the nine-point What Car? road test, including picture galleries; comprehensive used car road tests; a free used car valuation tool; advice and tips on buying, selling and running your car; and used car listings, plus contract hire deals, new car deals and a dealer search. All content has been adapted for a mobile phone environment with bespoke page layouts and rapid delivery of each page on the handset. The site has been created by YOC.

“Integrating mobile into its overall strategy is a wise move for What Car? as the channel perfectly suits both its loyal and mobile-aware readership and advertisers,” says YOC UK Managing Director, Oli Roxburgh. “The continued growth of the mobile Internet is a validation that mobile presents publishers with a flexible, interactive platform on which to diversify its revenue streams and broaden its reach.”
