Kapten launches on Google Maps in London

Ride-hailing app Kapten is now available to travellers in London on Google Maps. The tie-up offers riders an estimated waiting time and fare quote. Anyone who books through Google Maps will then be redirected to the Kapten app where they will find the details for their requested ride.

Kapten was established in 2012 with the aim of offering a premium, yet affordable private ride service in European countries including France, Portugal, Switzerland and most recently London.

“Living in an expensive and busy city like London can be stressful,” said Kapten GM London, Mariusz Zabrocki. “We’ve already established a fixed, low-priced PHV service, which is on average, 21 per cent less than Uber [based on a sample of 230 representative quotes in TfL zones 1-5 from 26 June to 11 August 2019], but with this new collaboration with Google, we are now helping our customers with greater accessibility.”

Acquired by Daimler in January 2018, Kapten is now a part of the BMW and Daimler mobility joint venture.
