WhatsApp is reportedly preparing to roll out a standalone business app to enable businesses to communicate directly with users, after it began piloting the service back in August.
The dedicated business app will feature three different accounts. The first account is a verified one which has a green checkmark badge on its profile. The second is a confirmed account, where the account matches the phone number for the business and carries a grey checkmark. The final account is a basic business account, where the account still hasn’t been confirmed or verified by WhatsApp and has a grey question mark badge.
The Facebook-owned messaging app has also added tools for users to control business messaging within a chat with a business, Business Today reports. Users will be able to block and report accounts as spam any time they feel.
WhatsApp began trialling WhatsApp Business earlier this year in Brazil, Europe, India, and Indonesia. As part of the test, it enabled small businesses to answer questions from customers or provide them with updates, while giving larger companies the chance to sit directly within its platform.
