WhatsApp Lets Users Pay Their Friends Subscription Fees

WhatsApp has added a feature to its Android app which enables users to to pay the $0.99/£0.69 yearly subscription fee on behalf of one of their contacts.
Although this feature is currently only available on Android, the recipient can be using the app on any supported OS.
The option only appears for contacts whose subscriptions have already expired. Users can pay using Google Wallet, PayPal, or by sending a payment URL to their desktop.
Its being introduced as part of the version 2.11.186 update, first spotted by Android Police, along with enhanced privacy settings to limit who can view a users profile pic, status and last seen updates.
