Android is a more stable OS than iOS, according to data from app performance platform Crittercism – with crash rates of 1.76 and 1.98 per cent, respectively.
As you might expect, older versions perform less well, with iOS 4.1 and Android Gingerbread 2.3.1.
The single OS version with the lowest crash rate is Android 4.1.2, the latest update to Jelly Bean – though Jelly Bean overall has a significantly higher crash rate than iOS 6 (1.76 per cent, versus 1.15 per cent). And its also worth noting that, while 66 per cent of Apple users have adopted iOS 6, only 4.75 per cent of Android users are on Jelly Bean.
In terms of individual handsets, meanwhile, the best performing Android devices are the HTC One X, Samsung Galaxy S3, and Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
